OUR STORY

Our journey as owners of The Pampered Palate Café started in 1999.  We were newlyweds and traveled to Staunton to visit Scott’s family for the weekend.  Scott’s aunt worked a few doors down from the Palate at Holt’s for the Home (which is now Lattitudes) and we all came to lunch here.  Over the years, whenever we visited, we would have lunch here with Scott’s mother and aunts.  We really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service and looked forward to eating here.

In 2016 we decided to relocate to Staunton from the D.C. area and started coming often.  This quickly became our “go to” place whenever we came to downtown for shopping or dining.  One day we were enjoying lunch and chatting with Chastity when a long-time regular customer, Anna Pullin, came over to us and pronounced “this place is for sale, you should buy it!”.  We had never met Anna before and were pretty perplexed, but we looked at each other and a light bulb went on.  We were both at a crossroads in our careers and had previous restaurant ownership experience.  We just happened to be in the right place at the right time for this opportunity to knock at our door.  Within a few months we were the proud new owners of the Palate.

We will always remember Anna fondly and we are grateful for her uncanny insight into our future.  We have really enjoyed getting to know all the regular customers and meet lots of new people visiting from out of town.  We are proud to be a part of the continued success of this café that has been a long-standing tradition in downtown Staunton.
